Limestone Block Siding™

– This innovative, patent pending product was developed to change the monotonous look of barnlike clapboards all over American houses & buildings, and to provide an option of a solid limestone block construction style with weight just a little higher than cement clapboards.

– Limestone Block Siding™ (LBS™) features include:
– 100% mineral content
– Maintenance free
– Lifetime durability exceeding 75 years
– No painting required
– Fireproof, easy to repair

– LBS™ can be fastened with screws or nails over wood with Hydrogap drainage fabric or Tyvek for breathability. It can be fastened over concrete block or old damaged brick with cementitious adhesive and/or screws.

– Available sizes of rectangles include:
18 1/2″ X 12 1/2″
30 1/2″ X 18 1/2″

– Both sizes can be manufactured with additional horizontal spacing to emulate the look of expensive limestone block workmanship. (photo #3)

– The first layer of LBS™ optionally can come with limestone-like water table pieces measuring 8″ high by 3″ deep and defining the foundation level with a solid structural look. These pieces must be grouted with no-shrink grout.

– Four standard colors with limestone-like texture are available:
– Indiana Limestone Grey
– Limestone White
– Limestone Tan
– Limestone Dark Grey

– Custom textures resembling old stonecraftsman techniques, like bushhammer texture, are also available.

– Joints between blocks are waterproof and do not have to be grouted, but can be if desired. No-shrink grout is available in 32 colors. Our grout gun and tool technique does not smear on finished surfaces.

– Material costs are similar to high grade coated cement board siding. Insulation cost is approximately 10% higher than board siding; however, LBS™ overall costs can be much lower because it does not require expensive trimming, cornerboards, headers, etc., which are usually made of wood or composite boards like AZAK and installed before siding.

– If desired, those types of ornamental trims could be easily applied over LBS™ or before it. It is recommended to apply it after, because this involves 50% fewer termination lines and the wall surface has more integrity.

– LBS™ as a system comes with accessories like flashings for window sills and window head flashings with special drip edges projected a good distance away from the window. This prevents water from flowing heavily over the window and redirects it away from the wall. This results in an estimated doubling of the life of valuable windows and their gaskets in typical situations. It improves aesthetics greatly as well.

– On every house or building, rain water dissolves very small amounts of paint, minerals, finishes, or effloresence, and after drying, it leaves a displeasing residue on window frames, glass, and walls. It very often erodes window frames and gaskets, reducing service life.

– For new construction, we recommend recessing windows into walls (photo #3). In addition, this reduces the need for ornamentation around windows. The technique of installing windows flat on walls with flanges was adopted mainly to make installation easy and to reduce costs. However, this yielded “boring” flat walls, so ornamental trims were then used as a remedy, negating the original savings and even reducing window lifespan.
